Pinterest is handing brands a new way to introduce themselves to potential fans and followers.
Dubbed Showcase, the new tool enables brands to
“shape the story” of their business. Your showcase can be found where
the stack of your most recent pins used to sit.
kate-spade-showcase-final_0“Now when your customers
visit you on Pinterest, you can greet them with a hand-picked showcase
of the best ideas you have to offer,” reads a blog post by Pinterest’s
Adam Barton. “So instead of starting people off with a random sampling
of your latest saves, you control what they see.”
Via the Web, you can pick up to five of your boards
to feature. Buyable Pins can be highlighted in the first ‘Shop’ slot.
You can also update your showcase as often as you wish to display new or
sale items. Changes can also be made on-the-go; for instance, you can
select new board cover images on your Smartphone.
Barton suggested taking a look at showcases from
Burberry, Swanson Broth, Corey Egan Jewelry, Lowe’s and Monogram for a
little inspiration for creating your own.
Along with Showcase, Pinterest has updated its apps to display a consistent look across iOS, Android and the Web.
“The boards you showcase, the cover images you
choose for each board—they look the same no matter where people choose
to view your profile,” Barton said.

And, when people visit your profile, they will now
see a tab for your boards and a tab for your pins, while the pins you’ve
liked will only be visible to you.
The updates are rolling out now, both on the Pinterest website and its apps.
